Technology Transfer Office, Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) Commercialization of technology is a collaborative process between the Technology Transfer Office, researchers, and partners. Therefore, Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) now have an Office of Technology Transfer (TTO) under the Department of Research & Innovation dedicated to identifying research which has potential commercial interest and strategies for how to exploit it. For instance, a research result may be of scientific and commercial interest, but patents are normally only issued for practical processes, and so someone not necessarily the researchers must come up with a specific practical process, proof of concept and market prototype. Successful technology transfer often results in a business license or a start-up company. In addition to traditional technology transfer, the TTO carries out a number of other functions, such as working with faculty to facilitate their research activities and collaborations with other institutions and with commercial partners. The TTO also serves as an interface between UMP and the business community, including economic development efforts. The establishment of TTO at UMP is also in line with the Government initiatives that have been introduced to ensure Malaysia continues to grow at a healthy rate include the 1Malaysia Programme, the Economic Transformation Programme (ETP) and the Government Transformation
